Jaw Discomfort, Headaches, and Bite Imbalance

Jaw tension, headaches, facial pain, or clicking may be related to imbalance within the jaw joints or bite. The temporomandibular joints (TMJs) play a central role in chewing, speaking, and overall comfort.

TMJ-related concerns can include muscle tension, limited jaw movement, uneven tooth wear, gum recession, or changes within the joint itself. These issues are often associated with disharmony between the teeth, jaws, and joint position.

Evaluation begins with a careful assessment of bite alignment, jaw movement, and joint function. When appropriate, digital imaging may be used to better understand joint anatomy.

Care often involves splint therapy using a custom-made appliance designed to reduce strain and stabilize the chewing system. In some cases, further alignment or bite correction may be recommended to support long-term comfort.
